Position Summary

This Test Technician role can work a flexible schedule of 4 10 hour days per week or 5 8 hour days per week and starting times can vary from 6am to 8am so there is a flexible work schedule available! The role of an MTLB testing technician focuses on performing tasks that are routine and semi-routine in nature to support research and development operations. This technician’s role will require some basic knowledge of testing equipment, job procedures and other testing tools obtained through work experience and will work under moderate supervision. The technician will be able to learn and consistently demonstrate proficiency in skill sets within a specified work area and will be able to effectively cross train in other areas as time allows. This role will maintain and improve safety, quality, and productivity to meet laboratory KPI’s and individual performance goals. Although problems seen in this role will typically be routine in nature, at times the job may require the technician to deviate from standard procedures. This role will also require the individual to remain proactive in identifying potential issues and communicating them to management in a clear and effective manner. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, teamwork focused individual, who is able to consistently deliver high-quality results in a challenging environment. This technician will use computer software as well as other manual test equipment like micrometers and gauages, to conduct destructive and non-destructive testing of various rubber compounds.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to follow all safety and quality processes, policies, and laws.

  • Able to train through written and verbal instruction and grasp relevant concepts within a reasonable timeframe.

  • Has the ability to properly operate a variety of testing equipment in a high-paced testing laboratory.

  • Basic computer skills are necessary for operating testing equipment (Microsoft Office Suite, web-based navigation, etc.).

  • Learn and understand required computer software and programs.

  • Excellent time management skills and can complete work while considering priorities and turnaround goals.

  • Good software and equipment troubleshooting skills.

  • Effective communication skills to be able to explain concerns with management, teammates, partners, or vendors as necessary.

  • Team-oriented mindset with a proven track record of solid teamwork.

  • Set up, configure, install, and maintain laboratory equipment.

  • Compiles data, operating records, control records and reports of test results.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments as necessary.

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of mechanical or rubber work experience.
